DJI Live Bridge

DJI Fly RTMP live streaming: the complete setup

DJI Fly can send the drone's live picture to any RTMP address: GO FLY → ••• → Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP. Point it at a computer running DJI Live Bridge on the same network, and from there the picture can go to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Kick or several of them at once.

In short

  • The RTMP option sits under GO FLY → ••• → Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP in DJI Fly.
  • DJI Fly needs an address like rtmp://192.168.1.20:1935/drone; DJI Live Bridge shows the right one for your computer, with a QR code.
  • The controller and the computer must be on the same Wi-Fi or the same phone hotspot.
  • The controller usually sends 720p H.264 with AAC audio; the app turns it into a clean 1080p vertical or horizontal stream.
  • Guest Wi-Fi networks often block devices from reaching each other — use a normal network or a hotspot.

How DJI Fly RTMP streaming works

RTMP is the protocol live platforms use to receive video. DJI Fly includes an RTMP client: it pushes the picture the controller receives from the drone to whatever address you type in. Platforms are picky about that stream — orientation, keyframes, bitrate — and many of them hand out a different address for every broadcast, so typing a platform's address straight into DJI Fly rarely works well.

DJI Live Bridge sits in between. It runs a small RTMP server on your Mac or PC, receives DJI Fly's stream there, shows a preview, and re-encodes it into what each platform expects. Everything stays on your computer; the video does not pass through anyone else's server.

Set up RTMP in DJI Fly

  1. Put both devices on one networkConnect the DJI controller and the computer to the same Wi-Fi, or turn on your phone's hotspot and join both to it.
  2. Open DJI Live BridgeThe Connect your drone step shows an address such as rtmp://192.168.1.20:1935/drone and a QR code. The number is your computer's address on that network.
  3. Open the RTMP screen in DJI FlyTap GO FLY, then ••• (the three dots), then Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP.
  4. Enter the addressType the address exactly as shown, or scan the QR code if your DJI Fly version offers it.
  5. Start streamingStart the stream in DJI Fly. In DJI Live Bridge the first step turns green and the preview appears within a few seconds.

Which network to use

SetupWorks?Notes
Home or office Wi-FiYesBest for practice. The upload to the platforms uses your internet line.
Phone hotspotYesBest in the field. Controller and computer both join it; the upload uses mobile data.
Guest Wi-FiOften notGuest networks usually isolate devices, so DJI Fly cannot reach the computer.
Controller on mobile data, computer elsewhereNoThe computer's local address is not reachable from outside its network.

The link from the controller to the computer carries the full stream, so keep the computer close to the router or hotspot. The upload to the platforms needs about 10 Mbps of steady bandwidth per destination.

Which drones support RTMP

It depends on the drone, the controller and the DJI Fly version, not on DJI Live Bridge. If DJI Fly shows RTMP under Live Streaming Platforms, it will work: the app receives an ordinary RTMP stream and never talks to the drone itself. DJI adds and removes the option between versions, so check your own controller.

On the DJI RC 2, some DJI Fly versions refuse to start streaming until a microphone is connected to the controller.

Troubleshooting

Questions

Where is the RTMP setting in DJI Fly?

GO FLY → ••• → Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP. If you do not see RTMP there, your drone, controller or DJI Fly version does not offer it.

What RTMP address do I enter in DJI Fly?

The one DJI Live Bridge shows, in the form rtmp://:1935/drone. It changes when the computer joins another network.

Can DJI Fly stream straight to YouTube or Facebook?

DJI Fly can push RTMP to any address, but platforms expect specific settings, and some need a new key for every broadcast. Sending to DJI Live Bridge first gives you a preview, the right format, several destinations at once and automatic handling of each platform's quirks.

Does it need an internet connection?

The link from DJI Fly to the computer is local. Only the stream from the computer to the platforms uses the internet.

Is the video sent to a third-party server?

No. DJI Live Bridge runs entirely on your computer and sends the stream only to the destinations you add.

Try it with your drone

DJI Live Bridge is free and open source, for macOS and Windows. FFmpeg is built in, so there is nothing else to install.
