How to live stream a DJI Avata 2
The Avata 2 has no screen controller, so the stream leaves through your phone: Goggles 3 share their live view with DJI Fly, and DJI Fly sends it over RTMP. Point that at DJI Live Bridge on a computer and the FPV picture goes on to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or several platforms at once.
In short
- Connect DJI Goggles 3 to your phone — a USB-C cable is the most reliable — and open DJI Fly to see the live view.
- In DJI Fly: GO FLY → ••• → Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP, with the address DJI Live Bridge shows.
- The phone's Wi-Fi must be on the same network as the computer; the cable keeps it free for that.
- DJI Live Bridge reshapes the landscape FPV picture into vertical 1080×1920 for Instagram and TikTok.
- A spotter or a second person should handle the stream — the pilot is wearing goggles.
How streaming works with an FPV drone
With the Avata 2 the picture goes from the drone to the goggles. DJI Goggles 3 can share that live view with DJI Fly on a phone, by cable or over Wi-Fi, and DJI Fly's RTMP option streams what it shows. The same path is documented for the Neo with goggles.
| Link from goggles to phone | Good for streaming? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| USB-C cable (OTG) | Yes — recommended | Stable, and the phone's Wi-Fi stays free to reach the computer. |
| Wireless share (Goggles 3) | Possible | The share uses wireless itself and can interfere; prefer the cable. |
We have seen this path documented for DJI Goggles 3. With other goggles, check whether DJI Fly on the phone shows the live view and offers RTMP.
Set up the Avata 2 live stream
- Cable the goggles to the phoneConnect the USB-C port of DJI Goggles 3 to the phone with an OTG-capable cable and open DJI Fly; tap GO FLY and confirm the live view appears.
- Join phone and computer to one networkConnect the phone's Wi-Fi and the computer to the same Wi-Fi, or to a travel router or another phone's hotspot in the field.
- Open DJI Live BridgeInstall DJI Live Bridge on a Mac or Windows PC and note the address it shows, like
rtmp://192.168.1.20:1935/drone. - Start RTMP in DJI FlyGO FLY → ••• → Transmission → Live Streaming Platforms → RTMP, enter the address and start. The preview appears in DJI Live Bridge.
- Go liveAdd Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or any RTMP server, choose vertical or horizontal, and press START LIVE before take-off.

The general DJI Fly settings, networks and firewall prompts are covered in the DJI Fly RTMP guide.
Tips for FPV live streams
- Start the stream before take-off. Once the goggles are on, you cannot see the computer; check the preview and the destinations first.
- Let someone else watch the stream. A spotter can follow the destination cards and end the broadcast if needed.
- Vertical FPV. Whole picture keeps the full horizon with a blurred fill — usually better for FPV than Fill screen, which crops the sides.
- Android phones stream at a higher bitrate. DJI lists 5 or 3 Mbps on Android and 2 or 1 Mbps on iOS — fast FPV motion needs every bit.
When it does not work
- No live view in DJI Fly: try another USB-C cable; it must carry data, not only power.
- DJI Fly cannot connect to the computer: the phone's Wi-Fi is on another network, or the computer has a new address. Copy the address again.
- The picture stutters: use the cable instead of the wireless share, and keep the phone close to the router.
- Instagram rejects the stream: each Instagram key works once; create a new live video and update the key.
Questions
Can the DJI Avata 2 live stream?
Yes. DJI Goggles 3 share the live view with DJI Fly on a phone, and DJI Fly streams it over RTMP to DJI Live Bridge, which sends it to your platforms.
Do I need a cable between the goggles and the phone?
Goggles 3 can also share wirelessly, but the cable is more reliable and keeps the phone's Wi-Fi free to reach the computer.
Can I stream the Avata 2 to Instagram or TikTok?
Yes, through DJI Live Bridge. It turns the landscape FPV picture into vertical 1080×1920 and reaches Instagram over RTMPS, which DJI Fly cannot do itself.
Who should run the stream while I fly?
Start it before take-off and, if you can, let a spotter watch the computer. The pilot has the goggles on and cannot see the destination cards.
Try it with your drone
DJI Live Bridge is free and open source, for macOS and Windows. FFmpeg is built in, so there is nothing else to install.
